Print-prep for mug designers and POD shops
Wrap templates for 11oz and 15oz mugs, transparent PNG output, multi-platform sizing. One upload, every POD platform’s mug spec ready to go.
Challenges we solve
Common problems that slow down your workflow — and how Ratio Ready handles each one.
Mug wrap templates trip up first-time designers
A mug wrap is flat artwork that wraps around the cylinder. The handle area is a print-free zone. Most beginners design forgetting the handle gap, then the wrap prints with the design split across the handle, ruining the listing.
11oz vs 15oz spec mismatch
11oz mug wraps are 8.6×3.8 inches. 15oz are 9×4.4 inches. Same design, different file dimensions per platform. Manually resizing for each variation eats time and risks mismatched output.
Each POD platform has different mug requirements
Printify wants 11oz at 2700×1100. Printful wants the same shape but different exact pixels. Amazon Merch’s mug spec differs again. Without per-platform output, you end up uploading the wrong size and wondering why the print is off-centered.
Mug mockup photos are tedious to shoot at home
Buyers want to see the mug in context — on a desk, in a kitchen, with coffee. Hand-shooting flat-lays for every mug design eats your weekend. Templated PSD mockups solve this in seconds.

Your workflow with Ratio Ready
Upload your mug design
Drop your design (or batch of designs). Hand-illustrated, Procreate, AI-generated, or scanned typography — all work. Validated for transparency and resolution.
Pick mug size + platform
11oz, 15oz, or both. Select platforms (Printify, Printful, Merch, Redbubble, Society6). Each gets its specific spec.
Process across mug variants
Each variant resizes to the platform’s exact spec. Handle-area safe-zone preserved. Transparency carried through. AI upscaling kicks in if source is below target.
Download per-platform ZIP
Get a ZIP organised by platform — printify/, printful/, merch/, redbubble/. Upload each folder’s wrap PNG to the matching platform.
When you’d use this
Four common scenarios where Ratio Ready saves the most time:
- Launching a 10-design mug collection across 4 POD platforms. You designed 10 mug variants. Drop them all in, target Printify + Printful + Merch + Redbubble, get back a ZIP with 40 perfectly-sized files (10 designs × 4 platforms). Replaces 4+ hours of one-at-a-time export.
- Adding 15oz to an existing 11oz catalog. Your shop sells 11oz mugs only. Customers want 15oz too. Re-run every design through Ratio Ready with both sizes selected — instant 2× catalog expansion without redesigning anything.
- Generating mug-in-context mockups for the listing gallery. Buyers convert better seeing mugs in context — on a kitchen counter, with morning coffee, on an office desk. Pick a mug mockup set, run designs through it, get back styled scenes for every listing without flat-lay photography.
- Refreshing a winning mug design with AI upscaling. Your bestselling mug uses an AI-generated illustration at 1024px. Upscaling 4× brings it to 4096px — print-ready for high-res mug printing. The same design now ships at premium quality without redrawing.
Common mistakes
Mistakes I’ve seen (and made) that cost real time and refunds:
1. Designing without accounting for the handle gap
11oz mugs have a ~1-inch print-free zone where the handle attaches. Designs spanning the full wrap get split across the handle. Always design with the handle gap in mind — keep critical content (text, focal art) in the wrap’s middle 70%.
2. Saving wraps as JPG (loses transparency)
Mug wraps with partial-print designs (logo on one side, blank elsewhere) need transparent PNG. JPG fills the transparent areas with white — making the mug print as a white-bordered wrap. Always deliver PNG with alpha.
3. Using a 12 MP source for high-res mug printing
Premium mug prints want 4096px+ on the long edge for crisp output. 12 MP phone photos (4000×3000) fall short. Run AI upscaling first — Ratio Ready handles this in the same job when you target 4096px output.
4. Forgetting that each POD platform has different mug specs
Printify and Printful both do 11oz mugs but their pixel specs differ slightly. Uploading Printify’s file to Printful causes off-centered prints. Always match the file to the specific platform; Ratio Ready outputs per-platform.
5. Skipping the wrap-template preview step
Most POD platforms show a preview before publishing. If your design’s handle area doesn’t look right in the preview, fix it before launch. 30 seconds of preview review saves a 3-week refund cycle.
